Social Justice
Social justice on the basis of equal social rights and standards is a central pillar of the work of the FES in Israel. Progressive approaches are designed to help address Israel's major economic and social challenges in a socially just manner.
Social policy is often underrepresented in Israel's public discourse and is overshadowed by security issues in particular. In addition, the short-lived terms of parliament and government often hinder the implementation of mid-term and long-term political concepts.
This paralysis is coinciding with a tense social situation. While Israel’s economic performance satisfies OECD levels, the social situation acuminates. The social gap widens and poverty rates stay high.
In our projects, economists and social experts develop just socio-economic solutions and policy concepts for Israel which are subsequently presented to policy makers and positioned in public discourse. The FES Israel also fosters the trade unions’ functional and political capabilities and promotes workers’ rights according to international standards
