FES Israel

The work of FES Israel

The Israel office of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, as one of more than 100 international offices, fulfills a particularly important role: it engages with the history of Israel and Germany, and the legacy of the Shoah. The FES aims at supporting the dialogue of the two countries, which has been affected and influenced by the difficult and burdensome history, as well as the exchange between the German and the Israeli societies on different levels.

In line with its ideals of social justice and social democratic values, FES Israel works in close cooperation with regional partners. The activities of the foundation comprise the support of exchange and dialogue between Israeli and German opinion leaders, especially Israeli members of the Knesset and members of the German Bundestag.

Next to this the creation of political analyses on current political issues plays an important role, aiming at the support of a value based and informed political agenda-setting by political decision-makers. An additional focal point of the work is the organization of seminars and public events on the issues of social democracy and social justice. Through this we encourage a broad dialogue within the Israeli society. The support of exchange programs, in particular for young people, the future decision makers, is also important for the work in Israel.

Based on those working areas, FES Israel is a “think and do tank”, fulfilling practical as well as content-based advisory working approaches.
