Visit of German MP Daniela De Ridder in Israel
Her visit took place on the very day of the mass demonstrations for the release of the 101 hostages still held captured by Hamas in Gaza and during the General Strike announced by Histadrut following the shocking news of the brutal murder of six hostages.
PM De Ridder met with MK Gilad Kariv from the Democrates, and its party international secretary, Jonathan Cummings. She had a long talk with Peter Lerner, Head of International Division of Histadrut. Noga Botansky, Deputy DG of the Kibbutz Movement, informed her about the situation of Israelis from the north and the south who are for the last 11 months refugees in their own country, and how civil society, especially the Kibbutz movement, is engaged in helping them by many impressive initiatives.
Daniela also visited the so called “hostage square” and met with activists of the Hostages and Missing Families Forum. The most emotional and touching encounter during her stay she had with Michael Levy whose brother Ori is still held captured in Gaza after he was kidnapped by Hamas terrorists at the Nova festival, not before watching his wife being murdered before his eyes. The demand of bringing them home now became for Daniela something very concrete.
