Remembering the Fallen – A Special Event by the Alumni Organization of Wepower in Partnership With Fes Israel and the European Union

How is it that female heroes of Israel's wars disappear from collective memory? Why do these women almost never continue to lead us in citizenship?

In Israel's wars, women fought, commanded, and saved lives, but were hardly commemorated:

  • Hadassah Samuel – a fighter who was killed in the battle for Jerusalem in the War of Independence – you won't find her name in any history book.
  • Dalia Nir – a helicopter pilot who took part in evacuating the wounded under fire in the Yom Kippur War – was not mentioned in any state ceremony for years.
  • Lieutenant Zohar Lifshitz – an armored personnel carrier commander, fought in Gaza in 2014 – but her story of heroism is not covered at all in the media.

On a special evening ahead of Memorial Day for the Fallen in Israel's Armed Forces and Victims of Hostilities, we will host Dr. Gali Mir Tibon, who will tell the story of Hadassah, a true Palmach fighter, a hero, and Dr. Orit Rishpi will present the results of the survey conducted by WePower on the connection between heroic women in war and leadership in citizenship.

Don't miss it!
