Last week, FES Israel convened high-level representatives of DGB, Histadrut and The Democrats for a roundtable discussion, spotlighting the crucial role of trade unions in strong German-Israeli ties.
In the presence of other key union leaders and civil-society experts, Dr. Ralf Melzer – Director of FES Israel – moderated the conversation featuring DGB chairwoman Yasmin Fahimi, EVG chairman Martin Burkert, ver.di chairman Martin Werneke, and ICGBE chairman Michael Vassiliadis alongside Histadrut chairman Arnon Bar-David, The Democrats chairman Yair Golan, and German Ambassador Steffen Seibert.
Reaffirming the enduring commitment to solidarity between DGB and their Israeli sister organization Histadrut in internationally challenging times, the discussion centered on current political and union issues. In doing so, economic and political challenges were discussed while also illustrating past achievements and exploring visions for the future.
The event concluded with an opportunity for guests to continue their conversations over dinner and informal exchanges.
