Final Meeting of the 11th Progressive Economists Course

The 11th class of the “Society and Environment” program (formerly Progressive Economists), consisting of students from Hebrew University, Tel Aviv University, and Ben Gurion University, came to a festive conclusion on August 7.

In presence of the project manager of the Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung, the students received their certificates and scholarships. Afterwards, the attendees who came together in the Institute for National Security Studies (INSS) were honored to listen to a keynote speech by Prof. Carmit Flug.

Prof. Flug, who served as the Governor of the Bank of Israel and today is the senior researcher at the Center for Governance and Economy at the Israel Democracy Institute, gave a lecture on the current war and its impact on the Israeli economy with focus on the state budget 2025. Finally, the students came together in working groups to discuss specific topics they worked on during their internships.

We at Friedrich-Ebert-Stiftung wish these young leaders best of luck in the future. May they continue to use the expertise they have learnt to contribute to improving the quality of life for Israeli citizens, to create inclusive growth, to protect the environment and to reduce inequality in Israel.
