בכנס המרכזים לצדק חברתי שהתקיים השנה ב-19 בספטמבר, עמדו במרכז הבמה הסיכויים והאתגרים הקשורים לשיקום ישראל והחברה האזרחית שלה לאחר ה-7 באוקטובר.
זה כולל בנייה מחדש של היישובים שנהרסו, השבת האמון בין האזרחים למדינה, חיזוק השירותים הציבוריים שנחלשו במשך שנים, בניית אמון בין הקבוצות השונות בחברה והתגברות על הטראומות האישיות והקולקטיביות של חברה המאופיינת באבל ואובדן.
נשיא ישראל יצחק הרצוג נשא נאום פתיחה באמצעות וידאו; התרגשנו כי כבוד נשיא המדינה שיבח בנאומו את קרן פרידריך אברט. בכנס השתתפו גם כמה גורמים פוליטיים חשובים נוספים, למשל ראש הממשלה לשעבר וח"כ יאיר לפיד, שנשא נאום מרכזי וח"כ נעמה לזימי, שהייתה חלק מפאנל בנושא השותפות היהודית-ערבית.
בסיום האירוע הוענק פרס אילן גילאון לצדק חברתי לקואליציית הטראומה הישראלית על פועלם החשוב בשיקום וניהול טראומות.
